Hey BFFZ!
We are looking to put together a benefit show late July or early August. If you are in a local band, looking to get some publicity and would like to play for free please contacts us at events@phillycollegeradio.org .
Also if you happen to attend a kick ass show or event (i.e. Popped!) and want to share your experience feel free to send in a blog post about it! We will then post them with credit...or without if you wanna be all mysterious like that. Also useful if you know of an upcoming event and wanna spread the word! Send blogs to submit@phillycollegeradio.org

Need something worthwile to do Thursday and Friday night? Look no further, PCRC's got you covered. The next 48 hours finds two shows seriously worth checking out featuring some great up-and-coming Philly bands:
World Cafe Live (Upstairs) - Thurs, 9pm - $15: Lemons Are Louder Than Rocks, The Bee Team - CD Release Party
Two of Philly's favorite indie darlings perform side by side at one of the loveliest venues in town. Lemons Are Louder Than Rocks, in addition to having one of the greatest band names ever (find the story behind it here), are one of the finest folk/pop psychedelic garage bands to pop up in recent years, and have been earning well-garnered comparisons to Zappa and Dr. Dog. The Bee Team is a ridiculously charming duo whose banjo fantasticness is making them one of my new faves. WCL is the most well-designed-for-sound music venue in the city, and has a killer menu if you're feeling kinda hungry while your there, and it's a CD Release Party (woooo party!!).
Millcreek Tavern - Fri, 9pm - $8 cover - 21+: Mike Bell, Everthus the Deadbeats, The Armchairs, Sailboat!, Power Animal
If you've been wondering what it's like to spend an evening in a West Philly bar, if you've been just dying to experience the hipster/gangsta feel-good mix that is the essence of all things 41st and Baltimore west to 50th Street, then it's about time you got your ass over to Millcreek Tavern on 42nd and Chestnut. With an excellent draght selection for reasonable prices and a huge space (including a performance space which features a giant projector to the left of the stage), Millcreek is the hidden gem of student night spots in University City, and frequently brings in some superb Philly and Brooklyn bands. I've had the pleasure of seeing the Armchairs, Drink Up Buttercup, the Lisps and many more in my frequent visits, and every time I wonder why more people haven't discovered this place. Tomorrow night the Armchairs (who were live on WQHS this past Tuesday) are back again, this time with four other great bands from Philly and (what?) Indianapolis. And if 5 bands for $8 isn't appealing enough to entice you on over...well, maybe it's time you rethink your life.
